The Lake’s very own "The Nutcracker" production, conceived and choreographed by Stacy Schrimpf and Shelly Schrimpf of Steps Dance Studio, has been widely praised for the vivid sets and costumes, comedic touches, and ironic twists of this beautiful holiday classic.

Truly a production of, for and by the community it serves, Steps Dance Studio features more than 40 young student dancers ages 2 – 17, in the roles of adorable gingerbreads, mice, soldiers, dolls, and more performing alongside professionals in the community.

The main characters in “The Nutcracker” are all advanced dancers who take classes at Steps four days a week which include Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Pointe. Of course, the ballet is not complete without the children from the angels to the gingerbread’s, all help to create the magic of this holiday classic.

The Nutcracker is an enormous production that truly takes a village to bring to the stage each year.

It is only through the support of the community, cast, Steps dancers and volunteers, that Steps Dance Studio can once again bring this magical ballet to the Lake.

About “The Nutcracker”

The story is familiar to most. “The Nutcracker” ballet is a tale of childhood fantasy that traces the Christmas Eve dream of a little German girl named Clara after she receives a magical Nutcracker. He takes her on a wonderful journey of exciting battles and through the candy-coated Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy all set to the familiar score by the famous Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. It is here that a series of specialty dances bring to life the wonders of the season and the magical quality of Clara’s dream.
